This week I celebrated my birthday (before you ask, no I’m not telling you how old I am) and it got me thinking about how the nature of birthdays change as you get older. In the preteen years they are usually defined by what presents and cake are going to come your way, the teenage years are dominated by what silliness you can get up to with your buddies (and cake), the twenties by mad parties (and cake) and then, unless you are a Peter Pan Syndrome sufferer, they start becoming more about reflecting on the past year and what you have achieved in that time (and cake). When I got to thinking about it, this last year for me has been a tumultuous one, just overflowing with highs and lows. With regards to my ethical fashion startup BODO, I feel I have made great progress in some areas, whilst being pegged back in others. It’s been a struggle at times and there are things I would change if I had a magic wand, but all in all, BODO is on route to becoming the social enterprise I envisaged it to be. The other huge high was finding out that I am going to be a father! In a few short months, a mini-me will be coming into the world and I can’t wait to meet him or her! Already, the imminent arrival of the baby has changed the way I live my life and I know it’s going to change a whole lot more! I can’t wait to see what the next year is going to bring!
